Medical Detoxification

Detoxification is the process by which the body rids itself of a drug the person has been abusing. The process of detoxification often needs to be medically managed in order to decrease the symptoms of withdrawal from the drug. “Withdrawal syndrome” describes the predictable signs and symptoms following abrupt discontinuation of, or rapid decrease in, intake of a substance that has been used consistently for a period of time. The length and severity varies from person to person and also depends on the specific drug the person had been using. The clinical team at Brynn Marr works with each individual in the detoxification process by prescribing medications which will prevent any severe physiological consequences from detoxification. Brynn Marr’s Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse Specialists have expertise in giving support, education, and counseling to the clients and their families throughout this difficult time. Additionally, we recognize the need to continuity of care and assisting the client with development of an individualized plan to transition to the next step of recovery.
